TMB22153AMS100 preliminary information 2 pr eliminar y infor mation functional description the TMB22153AMS100 is designed to demonstrate the performance of the tmc22x5ya digital v ideo decoder . f or complete descriptions of the tmc22x5ya, tmc2072, tmc1185, and tmc2242 please refer to part datasheets. the TMB22153AMS100 is designed to be used in conjunction with other f airchild demo boards, namely the tmc2069p7c d a c, and tmb2193ms100 encoder boards. the 96 pin edge connectors plug easily into each other . when used together , the boards demonstrate a high performance 10-bit digital video decoding system. tmc22x5ya digital video decoder the tmc22x5ya accepts digitized video input on tw o 10-bit b uses, ? o ver[9:0]?and ?o ver[9:0]? based on the status of its control re gisters, it then outputs the data to the output edge connector of the board in a v ariety of formats. please see t able 1 for a listing of board def ault video standards and output formats that are loadable to the control re gisters. after the tmc22x5ya control re gisters ha v e been initially loaded by the microcontroller , subsequent changes to the control re gisters may be made through the r-b us interf ace and raydemo softw are. it is important that the control re gisters be loaded correctly in order to obtain the desired output. once the control re gisters ha v e been set to output the correct data from the tmc22x5ya, then se v eral board switches must also be correctly con gured in order to obtain the desired output. tmc2072 genloc king video digitiz er the tmc2072 genlocking v ideo digitizer accepts analog composite data through the composite input bnc on the left side of the board. a 20mhz clock crystal pro vides the gen- lock with an input clock. the tmc2072 outputs horizontal and v ertical syncs, and a 27mhz clock. the clock is used to dri v e the decoder and epld. lik e the tmc22x5ya, the genlock part must be programmed at startup. instructions on ho w to do this are in the ?icrocontroller?section of this documentation. epld an altera epf10k10tc144-4 epld e x ecutes se v eral essential board functions. the epld serv es as a b uf fer and multiple x er for data b uses and a re gister for se v eral impor - tant control signals. these signals may be cross-referenced to the included schematics. the epld control re gisters may be modi ed using the raydemo softw are. the raydemo epld r-b us address is 0000001. f or a more complete description or speci cation of signals going to or coming from the tmc22x5ya and tmc2072, please refer to the f airchild semiconductor data book (also a v ailable on cd- r om) or the website at www .f airchildsemi.com. micr ocontr oller an atmel 89c55 microcontroller is used to program the tmc22x5ya and tmc2072 re gisters. the microcontroller programs the parts through the r-b us at po wer up and repro- grams them each time the ?eset?b utton is pushed. please see t able 1 on the ne xt page for a description of a v ailable microcontroller -programmed board con gurations. t ab le 1. (do wn) position. 6. plug in po wer -supply connector and apply po wer . led s corresponding to applied v oltages should light- up. 7. press and release the mrst b utton (s2). the tmc2072 and tmc22x5ya should both be programmed. t o v erify the tmc2072 is functioning correctly , check for presence of a clock (tp sync pulses, vs (tp18) and hs (tp17). lik e wise, to v erify the tmc22x5ya is functioning, check for presence of dhsync (tp5) and d vsync (tp6). p o wer suppl y requirements the TMB22153AMS100 po wer supply connector is on the top edge of the board to w ard the left side. the TMB22153AMS100 board requires dc po wer supply v oltages of +5v and -5v . the +5v supply pro vides po wer and v oltage references to the tmc22x5ya and /tmc2072, as well as dri ving ttl logic de vices. it is for this reason that a bench po wer supply with short cable lengths is recommended.
